Memorial Biography

John C Gonzales died in Sonora after a brief illness on November 8, 2021 at the age of 76. He was born May 18,1945 in Trinchera Colorado to Paul and Maria Justa Gonzales and was the youngest of 10 children. He attended Branson High School and graduated in 1963. He left Colorado for California when he was 18 years old. John and Valerie were married on June 2, 1982, making their home in Antioch, CA. John was the proud owner of a successful custom cabinetry business, “Cabinets by John”. Upon their retirement, they found their dream location in Sonora, California where they were very happy and excited setting up their new home while enjoying and watching their young twin grandchildren grow. John and Valerie were active with their local church Hilltop Church of Sonora where they made several friends and attended Bible studies together. He was married to Valerie who preceded him in death by 10 days. He is survived by his 3 daughters, Mylee (Ron) Perkins of Oakley, Luwana Adair (Mario) of Oakley and Josette Gonzales of Oakley; and 2 sons Doug Meder (Renee) of Napa and Greg Meder (Tracey) of Sonora; 4 grandchildren Devin Zaccagnini, Peyton Adair, Vincent and Olivia Meder; 2 sisters Sally Cala of Albuquerque, NM and Vivian Paz of Denver, CO; and many nephews, nieces and cousins. He is preceded in death by his wife Valerie, his parents, 4 brother Joe Gonzales, Paul Gonzales, Fred Gonzales, Richard Gonzales, 3 sisters Pauline Greenhouse, Barbara Baca and Ellen Warrick and nephews and nieces. A celebration of life will be announced and held after the holidays.
